They didn’t say what exactly the “cleaning agent mixture” was, but from the sounds of it I reckon they mixed ammonia & bleach.
BWW is generally trash anyways, their food is all Applebee’s level reheated frozen crap. It’s sad that that’s the last thing that employee did.

CLR and Bleach? That will easily do it. Especially if in a large bucket.
It will remove oxygen from the air and attack your lungs.
Some of these things need instructions as to NOT mix with as folks like to make cleaning cocktails. Ammonia and Chlorine
were used in WW1 very effectively.

It’s almost certainly chlorine gas from ammonia and bleach. Way back in the day, I made a similar mistake as a teenager with no training, but they must’ve mixed a lot to do this kind of damage.
As for the franchisee business, they’re being quick to point out they don’t control the guidance individual stores provide. It sounds sleazy, but most people don't understand that BWW the company doesn't run the place, and their hoping to make that clear. In general, a lot of franchisees are as bad at following standards as slum lords.

I had an experience with that living by myself for the first time after college. I was cleaning my toilet and used one product on the inside and another spray on the seat and tank. Curiously, a fog started forming on the water. I was confused for a second, then realized i just made chlorine gas and flushed it.

That is a shitty way to go....and they were probably trying to do the right thing and get it out of the kitchen, instead of saying “ F- that, they don’t pay me enough....everyone get the F— out of here.”
